In the field of semantic environmental modelling for intelligent technical systems, research is being conducted into how the environment perceived by sensors can be represented in formal models. In addition to environmental assessment, the focus is on semantic modelling, i.e. relevant data is modeled, interpreted, correlated and linked with background knowledge. Methods from multisensor data fusion and information fusion are used to integrate new observations and update the model. The different modelling types can be used for systems such as intelligent robots, underwater vehicles, autonomous vehicles, monitoring systems and in industrial control technology.
