There is an ongoing trend for specialization in the world of black hat hackers. The one developing the cracks is not necessarily the one who will use it to attack and take over a machine. And further the one who took over a machine is not necsssarily the one trying to get ransom for holding data hostage. But what do we really know about this world and its underlying economics? Are all actors driven by economic incentives? The topic of this thesis is to get some insight to these questions.
