Markus Vogelbacher ist seit Anfang 2012 wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Lehrstuhl für Interaktive Echtzeitsysteme. Zuvor studierte er Maschinenbau am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) mit der Vertiefungsrichtung Mechatronik und Mikrosystemtechnik. Während des Hauptstudiums vertiefte er seine Interessen in den Bereichen Mess- und Regelungstechnik und der Bildverarbeitung. In seiner Diplomarbeit am Institut für Angewandte Informatik beschäftigte er sich mit der Extraktion von bildbasierten Prozesskenngrößen aus Infrarotaufnahmen der thermischen Sondermüllbehandlung. Herr Vogelbacher beschäftigt sich mit dem Bereich der Texturanalyse. Er arbeitet in enger Kooperation mit der Abteilung Mess-, Regelungs- und Diagnosesysteme (MRD) des Fraunhofer IOSB.
